Who we are
TravelersMate is a Sri Lanka tour company based in Buttala. We plan and run the experiences listed on this site — safaris, village days, hill-country walks, birdwatching and multi-day packages — with our own team on the ground.
We are not a marketplace of third-party hosts. When you inquire with us, you book TravelersMate: one company, one standard of care, and people who live in the region you came to see.
Founder
Chamath Nimantha
Chamath founded TravelersMate in Buttala to run tours the way he would want to travel himself — small groups, clear pricing, and a team that actually knows the roads between Yala, Kataragama, Bundala and the hill country. Every trip is planned and delivered by TravelersMate, not handed off to strangers.
Where we are based
Buttala sits in Sri Lanka’s Uva Province, within easy reach of Yala National Park, the pilgrimage town of Kataragama, the Ramsar wetlands of Bundala, and the road north toward Ella’s tea hills and train line.
Living here means we know the seasonal rhythms: when the park roads are quieter, when migratory birds pack the lagoons, and how to shape a day that feels local rather than packaged. That intimacy is why we stay small — and why we stay put.
Our philosophy
We keep groups intimate so guides can adapt the day, answer questions properly, and avoid the herd-tour shuffle. Fewer seats, more attention.
