Experience
Arugam Bay Experiences
World-class point breaks, lessons and lazy east-coast days.
Overview
About this experience
Arugam Bay is Sri Lanka’s best-known east-coast surf town: a right-hand point, palm shade and a string of nearby breaks. The classic season runs roughly May to October.
TravelersMate shapes east-coast days around your level — beginner lessons, guided surf mornings, or lagoon and culture add-ons — and can link the bay with Yala or Bundala on a wider southeast route.
On the day
What to expect
Surf options start with a beach briefing and board fitting. Beginners stay in safe zones with an instructor; intermediate guests may head to suitable nearby peaks depending on swell and wind.
Non-surf time can include Pottuvil lagoon boat hours, beach downtime, or a short cultural stop. We do not overpromise glass-perfect waves outside season.
East-coast sun is intense. Reef boots help on some breaks; listen to your instructor on currents and lineup etiquette.
