Two monsoon patterns
Sri Lanka does not have one single “closed season.” The southwest monsoon often affects the west and hill country roughly May–September. The east and northeast see more rain around October–January. Local timing varies year to year.
What we change
Yala Block 1 typically closes about early September to mid-October for ecological recovery — we re-route safaris rather than pretending the gate is open. Ella stays walkable in mist with the right shoes; viewpoints can be socked in.
